
Select the RAID as source and temp boot as destination. Clone the Raid to the temp boot drive.

Formatted temp boot drive (HFS with GUID) and run a check on it to make sure it is good.Reboot machine and shutdown any running apps (especially ones like dropbox, google drive, one drive, etc.).Get another drive to clone your raid to (temp boot drive).

The trial is sufficient, but to do future OS updates you will need to purchase it most likely.
